The Winnipeg Institute of Power Engineers Branch Profile
The Winnipeg branch of the Institute of Power Engineers is located In Manitoba, Canada and is situated on the great North American Plains at the geographical center of North America.
The Institute of Power Engineers, a national organization, was formed by the issuing of a Letters of Patent in January 1940. Under the Charter and Constitution, the Greater Winnipeg branch was formed in 1952.
The Winnipeg Branch of the Institute of Power Engineers has been serving the Power Engineers of Manitoba ever since.
The Winnipeg Branch is made up of power engineers and related professionals. We have representation on the national level along with representatives on various advisory committees including Red River College and the Power Engineers Advisory Board.
We have monthly meetings from September through May, which have an educational component together with discussions on legislation, employment, and other topics related to the power engineer. We often have plant tours and in December and May we have dinner meetings. The spring has normally been the time for the Golf Tournament with all levels of golfers welcome. There is a newsletter, The IPE Bulletin, which is mailed to all members.
